More About OpenVPN Connect – OpenVPN App

WHAT IS OPENVPN CONNECT?

The OpenVPN Connect app is a client application that allows users to securely access a VPN server using the OpenVPN protocol. It does not provide its own VPN service, but rather acts as a transport for data over an encrypted secure tunnel via the internet. This allows for secure remote access, zero trust network access, and protection for SaaS apps and IoT communications.

OpenVPN Connect is the only VPN client developed and maintained by OpenVPN Inc. It can be used with their business solutions, such as CloudConnexa and Access Server, for various secure networking needs. CloudConnexa is a cloud-delivered service that integrates virtual networking with essential secure access capabilities, while Access Server is a self-hosted VPN solution for remote access and site-to-site networking.

CloudConnexa allows businesses to quickly deploy and manage a secure overlay network without owning and operating complex security and data networking gear. It can be accessed from over 30 worldwide locations and uses patent-pending technologies for improved performance and routing. Access Server, on the other hand, provides granular access control and supports various user authentication methods.

In addition to these solutions, OpenVPN Connect can also be used to connect to any server or service compatible with the OpenVPN protocol or running the open source Community edition. This allows for even more flexibility in choosing a VPN service.

To use OpenVPN Connect, users need to import a "connection profile" file, which contains the configuration information for the VPN server. This file can be imported into the app using a .ovpn file or a website URL. The VPN service administrator will provide the necessary file or URL, as well as user credentials, for the user to access the VPN server.
